About the studio

In 2009 I began working with my old friend and skilled photographer Jonathan Pritchard. Together we made DP Studios, a reasonable cost, high quality photography studio based just outside the city centre of Glasgow. Our aim was to make a photography studio that not only worked as a business but as a hub for Glasgow’s creative network. More information can be found on this on the Community and Networking pages

When we first moved in to the space in November 2009, originally an empty industrial unit in Kinning Park. Over the following months the space went through a number of evolutions which you can see below.
Studio evolution 2009-2011

After over 5 months of solid work the studio was officially opened on April 24th with a networking event; over the course of the day the studio was home to over 30 photographers, models and make-up artists all working, shooting and networking.

The facilities at the studio are always being upgraded but our crowning achievement is the hi-glide kit: an overhead lighting support system that makes lighting easier to set up and manipulate, as well as being much safer by keeping wires and stands off the floor. The studio comes fully equipped with professional studio lights, an array of light shaping tools and a number of posing tools. You can take a virtual tour of the studio, courtesy of Daniel Oi photography.

Lounge

Conveniently located at the back of the studio, the changing & make-up area provides a comfortable and spacious area for models and make-up artists to work from. It includes storage space and hangers for clothing and bags, comfortable seating for waiting models and a work table with enough room for up to 3 make-up artists to work at once. Refreshments are always on hand in the form of tea, coffee and water.

Lounge

The lounge is a comfortable seating area with two 3 seater couches, coat racks and tea and coffee making facilities. There are always biscuits and if you are lucky perhaps even some freshly made traybake. Both the studio and the lounge have custom sound systems designed by J.C Pritchard Design and are compatible with all music players so you can listen to your own music.
