Lighting decisions

After Christmas I decided I was going to treat myself to some new studio lights, normal opinion on the subject is that Bowens and Elinchrom are the companies to go for and having used their lights I would say that they are of good quality. However the company I purchased my first lighting kit from have improved greatly over the years and having had the good fortune of being able to borrow a kit from a good friend and talented photographer and was very pleased with the results. Lencarta are cheaper than their competitors but having used lights from each company I would say they produce all the equipment I need.

This however is all moot as a letter from the SWPP early in 2010 changed my priorities completely. Lights may be nice but they won’t generate new business or new ideas so I decided to spend much of my lighting budget on a trip down to London for the SWPP Convention.
