We hope everyone has enjoyed their summer break. With the weather gradually returning to normal we all know what that means: time to get inside. We’re in the process of planning a whole new season of events for the second half of 2016 so we’re here to update you on a few changes we’re making to improve things for everyone.
Pre-Booking
We’ve had some peculiar attendance figures this year, with some dates selling out very early and others barely meeting minimum numbers. In order for these events to run the studio needs a certain number of attendees to cover costs, so to help with this we’re changing the way our booking system works with our new pre-booking method.
The idea is simple: we offer discounts to those who book early, and once the minimum number has been reached the price returns to the normal level.
Everybody wins: the studio cover costs, models get their fees paid and attendees get a discounted price.
All of this will be automated through Eventbrite, our booking system partner, with the first event to go live in August.
New Faces
Our thanks to everybody who completed the studio events survey. We’ve taken the information on board and made arrangements for the new year, with a calendar that includes a lot of variety in shoot types and themes. Once we confirm the dates with each model we will be posting the events listings on Facebook and mailing list.
Different Models: Many of you were looking for new people to work with. By casting the net wider this year we’ve been inundated with excellent applications.
Agency Models: We’ve been in touch with Glasgow’s top modelling agencies who are happy to provide us with models for the studio group. Agency standard models offer a fantastic experience for any photographer, and we’re hoping to host our first agency model event in the next few months.
Dancers: Our most popular suggestion, we currently have a number of dancers who have applied to work with us so it’s just a matter of deciding on a studio shoot or location.
Location: Somewhat defeating the purpose of a studio group, however this was also a common request so I’ve contacted some venues I work with for the possibility of shooting on location.
Rates for special events
We’re determined to keep the price point fixed at our current £40 for standard group shoots, however special events will have to be different. Many of the requested specialist shoots: We’ve contacted dancers, locations, agencies and art nude models and got some quotes together. Based on the additional expenses these events would come to £70 per person for a 4 hour shoot.
Studio Tutorials
Many of your have requested studio tuition alongside the standard studio events.
– The studio does run regular studio courses throughout the year.
– We will be introducing an option for studio tuition before each group shoot. This will take place on hour before the group arrives and be charged at an additional £20 on top of the booking fee. This option will be added to the Eventbrite booking form.
