[toggle title=”How long has the group been running?“]
The studio group first started in 2012. Meetings were seasonal, with roughly 6 meetings per year. As time passed the studio group grew in size, as did the demand for group meetings. By 2016 group meetings were every month, and in 2017 a second month group meeting was announced.

As the group continues to grow more changes and events are likely to follow.

[toggle title=”What is the difference between the two group meetings?“]
The main difference is the maximum group size.

The main group has 6 members, which is the perfect group size for collaborative shooting. Members work together on each shoot concept and everyone gets a chance to shoot.

The mini group has 4 members. This allows more individual time shooting with the model, and enough time for each group member to try out their own shoot concept.

[toggle title=”I’m new to studio photography. Can I still join?“]
Of course, the group is based around collaboration and welcomes all levels of photographer. We often find more experienced photographers are happy to advise newer photographers. It’s also a great opportunity to see how experienced photographers work and learn some interesting lighting setups.

[toggle title=”Will there be anyone there to teach?“]
We do offer studio tuition as an additional option for your studio group booking. The tutorial takes place an hour before the studio group meeting, and introduces novice photographers to the basic principles of studio photography. They can then apply what they have learned at the group meeting.

Tutorials can be booked as a ticket choice when you book on to a studio group event.

[toggle title=”I’m an experienced photographer. What can the group offer me?“]
The studio group has many members who are experienced photographers, and the one thing that comes up often is that no man is an island: it’s always great to work with other photographers and learn to see things in a different light.

As costs are shared amongst group members it is a very cost effective method of testing out new ideas. Experienced members will often use the group as a testing ground for new concepts and lighting setups, and by collaborating with other group members they come up with new ideas they may not have otherwise considered.

[toggle title=”Can I use these images for my portfolio?“]
Absolutely, the studio group is an excellent place to build you portfolio as members can regularly work with a range of models.

The only thing we ask is courtesy in crediting your images. Be sure to credit the model, the studio and if you are using a lighting setup from another photographer be sure to credit them also.
